Why This Role Exists

Beltways is seeking a highly experienced Moving Walkway Technician to join our fast-paced startup building the world’s first modular accelerating walkway.

The Moving Walkway Technician will ensure units are assembled, tested, and approved before shipment to sites, supervise a team of helpers during site assembly, completion of acceptance tests, and handover, and be responsible for routine maintenance, trouble-shooting, repairs, and inspections as required post-installation. As Beltways' first Moving Walkway Technician, the successful applicant will be named in the Beltways Elevator Contractor License for the State of Kentucky, and other jurisdictions to facilitate growth.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead all builds, including prototypes, test equipment, and commercial products.
  • Prepare sub-units in the manufacturing facility to ensure site installations are staged for completion in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Lead install of pilot systems and commercial systems at customer sites.
  • Conduct regular maintenance, repairs, modernizations, and inspections of Beltways' systems to ensure they have effective and efficient operation, and conform to safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
  • Assist in quality control processes for inbound and outbound parts and products, maintaining high standards.
  • Provide feedback to engineering teams on mechanical, electrical, and controls designs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized facility.

Required Skills

  • At least 4 years of Moving Walkway or Elevator experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Elevator Technician degree or Elevator Mechanic License.
  • Knowledge and experience with escalator and moving walk installation.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of hand and electrical tools such as grinders, chipping hammers, and a multimeter.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of electrical reading and testing equipment, hoisting and rigging equipment.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop. Must be able to lift and carry tools and materials weighing in excess of 50 pounds and be able to raise and carry with assistance items weighing 200 pounds. Must be able to work safely in close proximity to moving and working equipment. Must be available to work on an on-call basis in cases of emergency.
  • Work Environment: May work in dusty and dirty places such as construction sites and other mechanical spaces where temperatures may exceed 100°F and equipment may be oily and greasy.
